YORK-based dairy ice-cream producer Yorvale is celebrating after winning a contract to supply the nationwide supermarket chain Waitrose.
The company’s vanilla with vanilla pod, caramel honeycomb and double choc chip and strawberry flavoured products can now be brought from Waitrose’s Otley and Harrogate branches.
Tracey Marshall, the supermarket chain’s local and regional product manager said: “We are always on the look out for excellent regional produce and Yorvale is a great example of a delicious local product which is produced with skill and flair.”
Lesley Buxton, who with Ian Buxton founded Yorvale in 1989 to generate additional income to the couple’s dairy farm, said: “When the business first started we sold our ice-cream at shows and events from a portable trailer, so we are delighted with how the business has grown since then.”
The ice-cream business won last year’s Waitrose/Farmers Guardian Best Farm Entrepreneur Award among other awards, uses traditional production methods and does not use artificial colours or flavours.
