CORPORATE rivals in York will be locking horns again – this time to prove their business acumen.
Firms in the city are clamouring to enter teams in a York Professionals SimVenture gaming event, which takes place at the David Lloyd Club, in Hull Road, on Tuesday, April 20.
SimVenture is the award-winning computer challenge invented by York entrepreneur Peter Harrington and his IT genius brother, Paul.
Licences for the game have been snapped up by schools, business colleges and universities not only in the UK, but throughout the world.
The teams all start a simulated venture, then at every step of the way make choices from thousands of options – and every decision affects the bottom line, for good or ill. The winner is the business with the biggest profits.
Among the groups which have already named their four-person teams are a “young” York Professionals team from the Make-York group; a team from York chartered accountants Garbutt & Elliott; and a team of chartered surveyors led by York property specialist Barry Crux.
More than £500-worth of prizes will be at stake, including passes for the David Lloyd gym, personal SimVenture licences and bottles of wine. To book a place, email Helen Jackson at hjackson@york-professionals.co.uk or phone her at 07768 161778
