WATES Construction, the firm behind the £17 million Manor CE School in York, is celebrating success after securing a sought-after place on three different build frameworks.
The company, which has also been assigned to complete the forthcoming £30 million Raithwaite Hall Country Retreat near Whitby by York-based Skelwith Group, is now eligible for substantial building projects across Yorkshire through Partnerships for Schools (PfS), YORbuild and the University of Bradford.
A fourth source of regular assignment has also been won in the north and Midlands and is “to be revealed imminently”, said the company.
PfS is responsible for the management and delivery of the Government’s capital investment programmes in schools.
Wates is one of 15 companies appointed as panel members to the PfS contractors framework and is one of only nine appointed for both the north and south sectors.
The total value of the framework is about £4 billion over a four year period, £500 million of which is expected to be spent in the next five months.
YORbuild was established to offer an efficient approach to the procurement of public sector construction projects and will see Wates eligible to bid for build and refurbishment projects worth a total £1.2 billion over the next four years.
Wates is one of the most prominent contractors on the framework; eligible for projects from £10 million.
On the University of Bradford small works framework, Wates is just one of three contractors eligible for building projects ranging between £1 million and £3 million. The total value of the framework is estimated to be £35 million over a three year term, with the option to extend for a further year.
Dave Price, Wates’s regional manager, said: “These successes demonstrate the hard work of our Yorkshire team and the strength of the relationships we continue to build across the region.”
