Chamber comment

At the Chamber we want to know what you think about the issues in your local area. We believe that is important that all of our members have the opportunity to voice their opinions and their chance to shape local policy.

This is why we hold our Business Forums across York, North Yorkshire and Leeds. These events are free to attend and open to all of our members. They are a fantastic opportunity for members to raise awareness of the local issues that matter to them and going forward, these events will be the main way that Chamber policy and representation issues are formulated, so members can be confident that what is said at the forums will shape our lobbying activity and make a difference.

The theme of the next forum in York will be transport. As we know, this is a major issue in York, but we want to know why and what you would like to be done about it. As a major tourist destination, transport is crucial to the success of our economy and it is important that it is as easy as possible for visitors to get around. Transport is also vital for local businesses to move goods, services and their staff, in and out of the city.

The East Coast Mainline is pivotal to the city’s economy, as it is the vital link between York and the outside world. This is why we have invited Alan Hyde of National Express as key note speaker. He will be talking about the short to medium term operation of the line, the future of the franchise and what it all means for our city.

The next forum will be held on November 9, at the Innovation Centre. Places are limited and are on a first-come, first-served basis. To book email hannah.bairstow@yourchamber.org.uk
