DESIGNITION Ltd rocks, and that’s official.

The hi-tech York company which designs and develops bespoke websites and web-based applications annually uses its talent to improve the business performance of one of the top rock festivals in the North.

With the help of Designition Ltd, organisers of the Beat Herder Festival not only sold out 5,000 tickets last year, but again sold out this year – 7,500 tickets mostly bought on the internet using Designition Ltd systems. That included 500 early bird tickets on one day without a server crash.

Now the four-person firm started by its managing director Jon Irvine in 2004 and operating out of offices in Shambles, is looking to develop the products built for Beat-Herder for use by other festival organisers.

Designition Ltd is also seeking both the Small Business Of The Year and Science & Technology Business Of The Year titles in The Press Business Awards 2011.

Most of its work, whether domain registration, website hosting, creating email services, linking up with social media or offering consultation, comes from referrals within Yorkshire, although word has reached clients in London, Manchester, Cardiff and Leeds.

Well-known York people and organisations it serves includes The Archbishop of York, John Sentamu (acts435.org.uk), York Minster, Rafi’s Spicebox, York Professionals (for which Jon is a director), Higher York, City of York Council, Coalters estate agency, the Diocese of York and York Arc Light.

It all adds up to a turnover which this year is expected to be between £350,000 and £375,000.

Jon said: “Although we enjoy working continually with some of our larger clients, we particularly like working with start ups and micro businesses, helping them to move their organisations forward.

“It’s enjoyable seeing them grow due to our advice and products. This also helps build great business relationships.”
