I came to York in 1993 and, like lots of people, liked it that much I stayed. Getting a balance between new and interesting developments and keeping York special for future generations was what
really hooked me. I was elected by the good people of Fishergate as a Green Party Councillor in 2007.

As Heritage Champion I've urged the fire brigade chiefs not to abandon the station on Clifford Street and move fire engines away from the city centre. This will only put York's heritage at risk.

York Roman Festival is mainly based at Gray's Court this year, behind York Minster, and which is well worth a look, especially the slave auction on Saturday night with Roman-style food and drink.

Residents of Fishergate and volunteers from the University of York got together as part of National Tree Week to make an attempt on the national record to plant the largest number of trees in one hour.
