It amazes me how much packaging supermarkets and producers use for their food products. All of this hits the dustbin almost immediately furthering the problems with the planet’s environment.

The Arclight centre is on Leeman Road, across the road from the national railway museum. Since becoming a Councillor, I wanted to find out more about what the centre does.

York Young Labour launch

Last week Hugh Bayley MP and I helped launch a political group that could spawn the future of politics in York and may be even the country. The group is called York Young Labour and is open to anyone in York aged 26 and younger who wants to become more involved with the Labour Party.

The last few weeks

The last few weeks have been rather hectic - hence the lull in writing my blog. I have been preparing for Christmas and tying up loose ends on the Council. I seconded a motion for cross ticketing on York's buses, presented a petition against the potential selling of Back Park and I have opposed the potential closure of Fulford Post Office.

Age is just a number

Barring a few grey hairs, I am a relatively young parliamentary candidate. I think there should be more young people standing for elections - bringing new and fresh ideas to our sometimes stagnated political process. While I was recently at the University of York, meeting new members, I came across Claire Hazelgrove, a 19-year-old, second year politics student. From our brief meeting, I could tell she was competent and extremely good-natured.
