Our cat is very frustrated with having to put the clocks back every year. Does anyone ever think about the effect on all the animals that are fed, walked, pampered and stroked regularly in the morning and evening? I doubt it!
I’m puzzled by the argument that putting the clocks back gives more daylight to farmers in Scotland. How does that work then? Do they suddenly get a 25 hour day? Of course they don’t, so all their animals have to get used to being fed and presumably milked, herded, fed and whatever else at a different time. These animals must be confused and anxious, along with all the other animals in England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Add to that the confused and anxious humans (include me in that number) and I can only conclude that this is a cruel and idiotic idea and we should dump it immediately.
Maybe this is the one thing I would like if Scotland was independent. The rest of us wouldn't need to bother with BST anymore, as it would be SST!
Anyway, must go, I’ve a counselling session with a sulking cat who thinks we don’t love her any more, because we aren’t feeding her at the “right time”.
