When Chancellor Darling stabbed the average working family in the back yet again by introducing more taxes on them and their older larger cars. Did he think what the final outcome might be on two car families?
Stuck with our larger cars that now have pathetic trade in values and faced with rising living costs, what choices do we have?
For those with two cars the only choice is to sell the more fuel-efficient car and make do with one less fuel-efficient vehicle. Most people couldn’t face just losing the thousands of pounds they spent on a car that now seems to be a government cash cow. And before cock-a-hoop greens have a party, we won’t do less miles in the one car because we don’t live in a city and don’t live on a bus route, we live outside London in the English Shires or “the country”. Try a visit sometime, it’s a different world to the only world that influences government taxation plans.
So well done Darling, you’ve cleverly introduced further tax on struggling law abiding families and now all our journeys will use more fuel, brilliant.
It's not too late to wake up and apply the change only to new cars as originally suggested when the tax was first proposed. After all we expect our politicians to keep their promises.
Better still collect transport tax by putting tax on the fuel, then those who use the most will pay the most.... it is so simple and fair.
