Normans Rule OK

I've been on holiday in France, in Normandy to be precise where they treat the English as distant relatives and where round every corner is another perfect village. Each seems to have a massive Norman stone church (well they all are there) older than York Minster by centuries.

In Normandy they build beautiful houses both large and small that are stylish without being too clever and they look right somehow. They just seem to fit in with the older styles of house without looking like boxes. Nobody seems to build anything like them in England, mores the pity.

I couldn't resist taking a picture of possibly the most perfect holiday cottage I've ever seen and if I ever work out how to put an image onto this site (help) I'll let you see it.

We spent a lot of time on the beach at Asnelles, just along from Arromanches. You can still see the remains of the D-Day Mulberry Harbour and pick up bits of history on the beach. Amazing!

So we have wonderful food, fabulous countryside, superb and interesting houses, supermarkets with the best selection of food ever seen (sorry Tesco/Asda/Sainsbury’s/Co-op) great roads, historical sites galore, kind people and so easy to get to... I love it!

By the way I forgot to say, I've discovered this year that some of my ancestors came from France in the 1600s, so maybe I am a bit biased.
