PR referendum.

The Labour government got a majority in Parliament for a referendum offering voters the opportunity to vote for or against Alternative Voting PR.

Alternative Voting is Labour choice because it will help them keep power and means minimal change to First Past the Post which has been so good for them and the Tories, with whom they have shared long periods of total power in recent times. The majority of voters have stayed away, leaving them to get on with it and seeing nothing in it for them, or seen their vote wasted. This is where it has brought us.

The Tories and their establishment, major beneficiaries of First Past the Post, see the system as the last remaining bastion of the historic power they have recently had to share with Labour and want nothing to do with it.

Lib Dems want the Single Transferable Voting system which is most beneficial to voters. No votes are wasted, it spreads power in Parliament more in line with what the whole population wants, puts an end to the Tory/Labour stage show and has the potential to get more people with a personal interest in our politics out to vote.

The only way of conducting a fair referendum on PR is to give us the choice of the three largest parties;

Labour way, Alternative Voting.

Tory way, status quo, no change.

or Lib Dem, what is best for us.

Labour and Tories are dreading a hung parliament. A vote for Single transferable voting would really give them sleepless nights and is the only way out for us from their strangle hold.
