I must admit I am disappointed that there doesn't seem to be one politician capable of breaking the mould by suggesting an alternative to cutting everything in sight.

The Greek Economy is on it's knees and many others seem buckling at the knees too and are ready to follow. How is the Greek Economy (or any economy for that matter) going to recover if all that happens is more people are unemployed and less wealth is generated, followed by less income for the Government. Even a simple man like me can work that one out, it doesn't add up.

The idea of a common currency is a brilliant idea if you have a United States of Europe, where borders and countries disappear, where personal and business taxation is the same, where benefits are the same, where opportunities and rights are the same and where there is a truly shared responsibility for success or failure. This doesn't exist and the Euro will collapse unless countries with weaker economies are allowed to leave and re-establish their currencies and economies.

Rather than put off the inevitable, the huge bailout funds that are being created should be used to initiate new forward looking civic infrastructure projects, such as Road and Rail (extensions and improvements), Water Management infrastructure (flood management, water storage, international pipes and treatment plants) and Coastal Defences before much of Northern Europe is swamped by rising sea levels. Mr Cameron, please think “Marshall Plan” of the type Europe enjoyed after the war, when billions of US Dollars were given to rebuild business and re-start war ravaged economies. Those economies recovered more quickly than that of the UK which wasn't helped after the war by the US, even though we needed it just as much.

We have things we need to do to protect the individual countries of Europe and these should be the priority, rather than the constant meandering towards an unhappy political union. This union would only end in tears, with smaller countries feeling a loss of identity and larger countries feeling they are carrying the others.

Does this remind you of a certain dis-United Kingdom where inequalities between nations have never been greater? Where smaller countries flex a nationalism denied to the heart of the union that pays the bills. Where racist (education) policies are set, seemingly to punish the English for “crimes” committed hundreds of years ago by the ruling class. Where people everywhere wait for leaders to “save” them from what appears to be a tide of anger against them, that they neither deserve nor understand.

I vote NO. Politicians get off your backsides and look to the future. Get planning and get people working again or we all suffer the consequences. Oh and while you are at it, give the English their parliament back!
