Does that mean permanent seats in government for the Lib Dems with one or the other for a few decades? It seems they would be well satisfied with that, and let the other minor parties and their supporters fight their own battles,

I'm afraid that a fairer tax system, as put forward by V J Connor, the ex tax collector in the Northern Echo, is not achievable with the system we serve under.

Anyone brought up to stay within their ability to balance the books and keep out of financial trouble, even with meagre means, knew the folly of not doing so. They did not join in or encourage the free for all national spending spree which resulted in the sad situation we and our descendants now have to live with.
