Sports Relief brings together the tireless efforts of youth, a multitude of small donations from people on very limited income and genuine wishes of us all to relieve countless other millions who try to scratch a sparse living from parched earth around the world. It looks as if we will achieve a record amount of £30,000,000 plus this year.
The money raised by all this mammoth activity and generosity, however, is dwarfed by the monstrous amounts top bankers pay themselves in salaries / bonuses, and gamble with our savings, insurance funds and pension funds.
Exit Sir Fred stage left, enter Bob Diamond, of Barclays and his Chief Executive stage right. They can almost treble the accumulated donations raised by the nations' genuine efforts and concern for the suffering millions, and still have enormous pensions for early retirement.
What do our politicians think and do about this?
