This election could be the last under the unfair two horse political race system, which thrives on boom and bust, very rich, very poor and unbridled power for Labour or Conservatives. That is, if Gordon's “Fair for All” rallying call was applied to his promised PR referendum.
How do the parties stand on the referendum issue?
Labour preference, First Past the Post but, if you insist, offering a watered down Alternative Votes PR referendum yes or no.
Tory preference, totally against a referendum, no change to First Past the Post.
Lib Dems preference, Single Transferable Votes, the nearest there is to total representation, if that was on offer.
How do the Party slogans stack up against the PR referendum issue?
Labour - “Fair for All” -as long as you take or leave our choice.
Tories - “Change” but on this “No Change.”.
Lib Dems - If our preference was being offered in a fair 3 option choice to electors, Single Transferable Votes. But it isn’t.
Conservatives tell us we have only one choice in the election; Gordon Brown or David Cameron. Votes for Lib Dems and other parties are irrelevant, ALL CHANGE. NO CHANGE or NOTHING. A challenge!!
Labour, guided by the guile of Mendleson and Campbell, the master manipulators of power, are more subtle. They are going to make their unfair system FAIR FOR ALL.
To my mind, the thing that is most holding us back, is A FAIR VOTE FOR ALL. And we desperately do need drastic CHANGE.
We are borrowing finance from China to buy their manufactured products. International Motors are bringing in a new car called “Great Wall”, probably to assemble at Longbridge which belongs to them.
