Road closures in York and Elvington
8:48am Saturday 20th October 2012 in News
PART of a York road is to close for almost two weeks next month to allow gas repairs to be carried out.
The closure will affect Beresford Terrace between its junctions with Bishopthorpe Road and Terry Street from November 5 to 18.
A diversion route will be in place along Bishopthorpe Road, Butcher Terrace and Terry Street.
Elsewhere, a section of Dauby Lane in Elvington is to be closed to traffic between 8am and 5pm from October 29 to November 11 to allow road resurfacing work.
Diversions will be put in place along other parts of Dauby Lane, the A1079, High Lane, Sandhill Lane and Main Street.

Let's hope the traffic lights are synchronised, Bishopthorpe Road this morning was blocked both ways because the temporary lights let traffic through while the permanent lights were on red and vice versa! Apparently been like that all the duration - who's not the sharpest pencil in the box at highways management?
Then let north bound traffic along Southlands Road and use any of: Nunmill St, Scott St, Russell St or Thorpe St. (Millfield Rd is too tight a turn)
Trouble is, it won't happen because residents will be too "precious" and will complain and far too sensible. It would keep traffic moving smoothly though.
