YOUNGSTERS at two York primary schools are set to become TV stars.

Members of the production team of CBeebies visited the Federation of Hob Moor Oaks and Hob Moor Community Primary Schools in search of children to be part of the next series of the show Something Special with Mr Tumble.

Hayley Wilkinson, the school’s administration manager, said: “They were so impressed with our schools and the work we do that they chose to feature our choir of about 50 youngsters to be in the next series.

“This is the first time that Something Special has worked with such a large group of children. It is a real validation of the inclusive work that we do at the Hob Moor Federation.

All the children were very excited to be involved in the shows and especially meeting Justin Fletcher who plays Mr Tumble, who was a firm favourite with many of our pupils. They were just so pleased to meet him.”

The filming took place in school and at Dean’s Park next to York Minster.

Ethan Swan, eight, of Wigginton, a pupil in Hob Moor Oaks School, has also taken part in filming for another episode where he went on a trip in his grandparent’s motorhome.

The York programmes will be aired next week with Ethan’s starring moment being on Monday between 9.45am and 1.45pm and the Federation choir featuring on Tuesday from 9.45am to 1.45pm.
