GRASSROOTS football is thriving at Pocklington Town.

The Balk-based club have announced that Elvington firm Rolawn, Europe’s largest producer of cultivated turf, will sponsor their Under-19s Academy as part of a youth development programme.

As part of the deal, Rolawn will act as advisors to the club over pitch maintenance and improvements for the next four years.

Rolawn will also use their experience in growing Britain’s finest turf to support the Town ground staff and undertake some other pitch works.

Pock U19s manager Ian Fletcher said: “We are absolutely delighted with this partnership. It’s a great fit for everyone at the club and will provide all the players with the best possible surface on which to excel.”

Jonathan Hill, Rolawn sales and marketing director, said: “We have many personal links with Pocklington and we are proud to be involved with the football club.”
