Two arrested after series of break-ins
12:34pm Wednesday 17th October 2012 in News
TWO people have been arrested in connection with a spate of thefts from motor vehicles in Selby.
A 25-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman, both from Leeds, were arrested on Tuesday at their home address, on suspicion of theft, after information was supplied by a member of the public following a public appeal.
There have been a total of six thefts from vehicles parked in isolated areas around the Selby district, and North Yorkshire Police urged anyone else with information to contact them.
Chief Inspector Mark Iveson, Safer Neighbourhood Commander for Selby Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “I would like to thank both the media and the public for their help with this investigation. We can all help to make our communities safer and information supplied by the public is a key part of the fight against crime.
“Although we made two arrests in the investigation I still urge anyone who can help with the investigation to contact the police or Crimestoppers straight away.”
The man and woman are currently still in police custody.
Anyone with information should contact Selby police on 101, email david.white@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk or phone Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
