Police investigate after cat shot dead

POLICE are investigating the death of a cat, which had been shot ten times by a BB gun.

The animal was found dead in Topcliffe on Thursday, October 11.

The incident follows a similar shooting of a cat in September, which was shot by a BB gun, and had to be treated for a fractured leg.

PC Duncan Pears, of Thirsk Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “These acts of barbarity at truly sickening. How anyone can inflict such injuries on innocent animals is beyond understanding. Those responsible such be utterly ashamed of themselves.”

Anyone with information about the incident should contact Thirsk police on 101, email duncan.pears@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk or phone Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
