Flood victims help

YORK residents whose homes were flooded during last month’s downpours are being encouraged to apply for help through the city’s Disaster Fund charity.

It was established following the floods which struck the city in 2000 and is intended to help people who are on low incomes and do not have adequate insurance.

Applications can be made at any time, but City of York Council has advised residents to apply between November 2 and 30. Businesses are not eligible.

For more information, phone the council’s welfare benefits advisers on 01904 552233 or 01904 552252.
