Hundreds expected to attend Pocktoberfest
HUNDREDS of people are expected to attend a two-day festival later this month in Pocklington, featuring internationally acclaimed musicians.
Pocktoberfest – the ninth annual Pocktoberfest to be held at the Old Railway Station – will feature performances from Echo & The Bunnymen, an acoustic set from Simon and Oscar from Ocean Colour Scene and Guillemots on Sunday, October 28.
On the Saturday, music and entertainment will come from The Buffalo Skinners, Jules And The Gang, and The Glass Caves and Big Jo & The Piccolo Chickens, who all come from the York area.
Meanwhile, other acts on day two include Ellen & The Escapades, British singer-songwriter David Ford, quirky rock and jazz band Louis Barabbas And The Bedlam Six, and Club Smith, originally from Bishop Wilton, near Pocklington.
The event aims to raise £5,000 for the Help for Heroes charity’s Phoenix House Recovery Centre for wounded military personnel in North Yorkshire.
A spokesman for the festival said: “We’re proud to say that it’s now nine years and counting for Pocktoberfest and we’re looking forward to this year’s event being the best – and certainly the biggest – so far.
“Our ethos has always been, and will remain, the same – to raise as much as we can for local charities by making Pocktoberfest one of the town’s premier events and an absolute ‘must’ on everyone’s social calendar.”
To buy tickets to the festival, which will also feature more than 50 real ales, lagers and ciders, call the box office on 01759 301547 or visit pocktoberfest.co.uk
