A 73-year-old cyclist is in a critical condition in hospital after he was found with serious injuries on the B1222.
The man, believed to be from the local area, was found lying in the road near Cawood at about 12.15pm on Saturday, and was airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary with serious head and leg injuries.
North Yorkshire Police have urged anyone who saw the cyclist riding along the B1222, close to the ‘Cawood Straight’, or saw him fall or collide with anything, to contact them.
Traffic Constable Martin Hayes, of Tadcaster Roads Policing Group, said: “Information from the public is vital in piecing together the sequence of events which led to him falling from his cycle and I am appealing for anyone who was on the B1222 at Cawood and saw what happened to contact me.”
Anyone with any information is asked to contact TC Hayes on 101, or by email to martin.hayes@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk
