Charity launches magnifiers appeal Charity launches magnifiers appeal

AN APPEAL is being launched by a York charity for unwanted magnifiers to mark World Sight Day today.

The York Blind and Partially Sighted Society (YBPSS) recently received a donation of an expensive video magnifier which the donor hopes can be sold to raise money for the society, which helps more than 1,000 people. The society has now launched an appeal for unwanted magnifiers of all types.

Diane Roworth, chief officer of YBPSS, said: “We are hoping that The Press readers will help us locate magnifiers that are gathering dust or not being used so we can pass them on to people who need them.”

To donate a magnifier, or to receive support for managing deteriorating vision, phone 01904 636269 or visit YBPSS Equipment and Information Centre at 22 Holgate Road, York, Monday to Friday, 10am to 3pm.
