A stunning view of York taken from the top of the chimney by a worker from steeplejack firm Horizon Specialist Contracting Ltd
MAINTENANCE work has been carried out on the Foss Island chimney, a grade II listed building and prominent feature of the York skyline since 1890, writes Sian Gardiner.
Steeplejacks from Horizon Specialist Contracting Ltd have been inspecting the chimney’s red brick walls for any cracks in need of repair.
Using ropes to abseil up and down the 55m high building, the workmen took these stunning photographs of the York skyline.
Last week, we featured pictures taken by steeplejacks who climbed to the top of St Mary’s Church in York to install a new lightning conductor.
