Repairs to shut city-centre street

PART of a city-centre street in York will be closed for a week for sewer repairs.

The scheme will mean a section of Toft Green and Tanner Row being closed to vehicles for several days between today and October 31, although a precise date for the work has yet to be confirmed. Part of a footpath in the street will also be closed.

Meanwhile, gas works will mean traffic being unable to use Baysdale Avenue, in Osbaldwick, between its junctions with Tranby Avenue and Bedale Avenue from October 15 to 21.

In addition, Askham Lane will be closed between Foxwood Lane and Cornlands Road between 9.15am and 4pm from October 22 to 26.

Toft Green was open this morning, everything was "spick and span" new tarmac laid etc...........and now they are going to close it again for sewer work!

In respect of sewer repairs I forecast city centre disruption in the near future. I have noticed an unpleasant odour of sewage in various places within 1/4 mile of the Mansion House at various times over the past six months.
The latest smell this week is more sharp resembling a more " fluid fecal product " if you follow my analogy.
I suspect there is serious problem, and hope that the CYC are investigating!
