The Press backs event to make most of hard-earned money
THE Press has teamed up with local financial services firm G&E Wealth Management to advise readers on planning for their future.
Experts from G&E Wealth Management – Jeremy Gibbs, Kevin Hilton and Simon Holt– will present at an event at the Mercure York Fairfield Manor Hotel on November 7, 9.30am to 12.30pm.
The event will advise people on investing for positive returns, protecting the income they make from investments and planning for the future.
Mr Holt, managing director of G&E Wealth Management, said: “Low interest rates are expected to be around for years to come, so things will only get worse for people relying on interest from deposits in banks and building societies.
“But with the prices of food and everyday living costs increasing, better income is available away from traditional deposits.
“We will guide people through the options in a simple and easy-to-understand way.”
He said the event would also help people avoid losing the wealth they have earned throughout their working life to the taxman.
“Most people work and save hard hoping to pass some wealth onto their family, but there are two big risks which could decimate the value of your estate – inheritance tax and the cost of care,” he said.
“As medicine advances we live longer but not necessarily more healthily, increasing the likelihood of needing professional care in later life.”
Minimal means-tested state support means anyone with assets of more than £23,500 will have to pay for their own care, he said.
G&E Wealth Management’s team will show some simple steps to reduce the taxman’s inheritance tax share, help you plan so that you do not run out of money and give simple and understandable advice on wills and power of attorney, with case studies.
