Mayfield Grove land decision delayed

A DECISION on who should take charge of a disputed piece of York land has been delayed.

Coun Dave Merrett, City of York Council's cabinet member for transport, planning and sustainability, was last week expected to make a decision over whether York Natural Environment Trust or Chase Residents Association should assume responsibility for public space at Mayfield Grove, near Hob Moor.

Both groups had submitted bids, but the issue has now been put off to allow more talks to be held between them and the council.

At least there is some improvement in Mayfield Pond and tidying up that has been done as a result of the pressure that Chase Residents Association has been made and however made that decision to sell of that land at York City Council should be sacked, that is public open space.

As for allowing innumerable number of extensions on that Estate which is contrary to the original lease they should also be looking at their Planning Department's regulation and the original lease by the builders drawn up in 1998. No extensions or anything like that.
