Decision due on Fulford care home
8:04am Tuesday 2nd October 2012 in News
A CHARITY could find out next month whether it can create more space for dementia patients at a York care home.
The Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution wants to add a new six-room wing to Fred Crossland House, part of Connaught Court in Fulford, as the first step in a wider redevelopment project designed to upgrade the home’s facilities.
Proposals for the extension have been sent to City of York Council, which is expected to decide in November whether it should go ahead.
The charity has said a separate application will be made for the overall redevelopment of the site, including extra care accommodation, and it intends to pay for the work by selling some of its land for housing.
Connaught Court has about 90 elderly residents, many of whom are dementia sufferers.
