Police probe after arson attack on store

POLICE have launched an investigation after an arson attack on a North Yorkshire department store.

Fire crews were called to the Debenhams store in Parliament Street, Harrogate, at about 12.30am last Friday to tackle a blaze which started in a wheelie bin outside the loading bay doors on Union Street.

The doors were damaged, with smoke damage also being caused to the interior of the shop, and North Yorkshire Police has appealed for anybody who was in the area last Thursday night or last Friday morning and who saw anything suspicious to contact the force on 101, select option two and ask for Detective Constable Claire Brown at Harrogate CID.
