YORK’S Food & Drink Festival has been hailed as a resounding success by organisers.

The annual event, celebrating different tastes and produce from across the region, came to an end yesterday.

Among the popular events was the Field & Fawcett Wine Fair at the city’s Guildall. The “trade-style” wine tasting allowed visitors to try up to 100 different wines while chatting with suppliers of Field & Fawcett wines.

Yesterday’s festival conclusion saw stallholders celebrate their ten days of trading in Parliament Street with thousands of food lovers descending on the city to sample local produce and food from around the world.

Tiffany Thomas, one of the venue managers, said: “It has been very successful once again, despite the floods. The atmosphere has been fantastic and we have had lots of comments about the high quality standards of local produce and goods.”
