Restaurant seeks new opening hours
8:43am Monday 1st October 2012 in News
THE owners of a bar and restaurant in the centre of York have applied for permission to stay open longer after a planning mistake.
A request has been made to City of York Council for new opening times for Lucia Bar and Grill, in Swinegate Court East, and Bar Esperanza, which is based on the first-floor of the building and used by the restaurant’s customers, allowing them to operate until 2am.
A statement to the council said that when the owners of Lucia had to seek fresh planning permission during the summer to ensure the bar could stay open, “incorrect information” was given to the council and this meant the premises currently had to close at midnight. They also said neighbouring restaurants and bars had 2am closing times.
Meanwhile, the owners of nearby Bora Bora have made a similar application asking for a 2.30am closing time, also saying the wrong information had been provided when they obtained new planning consent for the business recently and this had led to restrictions on opening times since.
