JUDGES from the annual Yorkshire In Bloom contest have rewarded Haxby and Dunnington residents for their efforts in brightening up their communities.
Dunnington was handed two Gold Awards, including a Yorkshire Rose Gold, meaning it secured the title of best small town in the Yorkshire region.
Meanwhile, Haxby scooped a silver award in the Large Village category of the competition, with its red, white and blue jubilee theme.
Coun Alan Leak, one of those behind Haxby’s award-winning effort, said: “It was absolutely wonderful to have the silver but we now want to move forward and get more support to go on to the gold.”
The awards were handed out at a ceremony held at York Racecourse.
