York Minster service to remember fallen police officers

AN ANNUAL service remembering fallen heroes of the police service will take place at York Minster tomorrow, writes Jennifer Bell.

The ninth National Police Memorial Day on Sunday will remember every officer killed on duty since modern policing began more than 180 years ago and aims to recognise the courage and dedication shown by all police officers across the UK every day.

Senior politicians will stand shoulder to shoulder with more than 40 Chief Constables, colleagues, families, friends and members of the public to honour the courage and sacrifice of officers.

The services comes only 12 days after the deaths of two policewomen in Manchester.
