THOUSANDS of pounds of luxury goods have been seized by police in a raid on a North Yorkshire house.

Officers from North Yorkshire Police executed a search warrant at the property in Harrogate this week as part of a money-laundering investigation.

Items found included four widescreen televisions, two iPads, a laptop, three chandeliers, power tools and a large American-style fridge-freezer.

An Xbox and games, DVDs, a flame-effect fire and two chests of drawers were also seized by the force’s financial investigators and the items will be held as evidence in the probe. They can be forfeited if it is proved they were obtained through crime.

A man and woman, both in their 30s, have been arrested and released on bail while inquiries continue and Insp Penny Taylor, of Harrogate Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “Although this investigation is still ongoing, we want to send a clear message that we will take action if we believe somebody is living a lifestyle incompatible with their legitimate income.”
