Heart surgery move under fire
9:09am Friday 28th September 2012 in News
THE flooding of North Yorkshire’s roads is a major reason children’s heart surgery services should not be moved from our region, say campaigners.
The Children’s Heart Surgery Fund (CHSF), which is battling to reverse an NHS decision to move paediatric heart services from Leeds to Newcastle, said the flooding of the A1, A19 and A63 raised questions over how seriously-ill children in our area would get to the north east.
CHSF director Sharon Cheng said: “Being stuck on a motorway for hours with a poorly child is unacceptable as well as the stress and strains it puts on the families of those children.”

It all goes to show that the outcomes for children is of less importance than travel convenience!

Erm The A1 goes both ways. How would kids get from Newcastle to leeds....and the A19 was closed in York and used as a diversion from the A1
