A GERMAN lorry driver has been arrested on suspicion of careless driving after a three vehicle smash on the A19.
The incident happened at 2.10pm on the north-bound carriageway near Thirsk, when the lorry collided with a Vauxhall Corsa, which in turn hit an Audi in a layby while its driver was changing the vehicle’s wheel. He was not injured.
The collision, saw the driver of the Corsa cut from their vehicle by emergency services - though they escaped with minor injuries.
The north-bound carriageway was closed for about four hours and traffic diverted through Thirsk.
