DETECTIVES investigating the murder of Mohammed Saleem Khan have found a knife close to the spot he was found.
The weapon, found in the area of Long Street, in Easingwold, is now undergoing forensic examinations.
Detective Chief Inspector Heather Pearson, heading the murder enquiry, is still urging the public to look out for any discarded objects and report them to the police.
She said: “Although a weapon has been recovered, we still need to establish whether this was used in the murder of Mr Khan.
“Therefore, I would urge people in Easingwold to remain vigilant and contact the police or Crimestoppers if they see any suspicious objects.”
Five people have now been arrested in connection with the murder.
Police are still questioning a 26-year-old man from Easingwold on suspicion of stabbing Mr Khan. The 20-year-old woman and the two men aged 21 and 25, who were arrested in connection with assisting an offender in the early hours of Monday, have all been released on police bail to allow for further enquiries.
A fifth man, aged 23 and from the local area, has also now been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. He remains in police custody.
Detective Chief Insp Pearson wants to hear from anyone who saw a white Europcar Ford Transit van in the area of Long Street, Easingwold, between 7pm on Saturday and 7am on Sunday.
