CITY leaders will this week receive the final report of an independent group set up to tackle “inequality” in York.

The York Fairness Commission was formed after Labour took control of City of York Council last year, with its role including how to provide public services amid funding cuts in a way which does not exclude sections of society. Its final findings will be presented at an event at Bishopthorpe Palace on Thursday.

The Archbishop of York , Dr John Sentamu, who is the Commission’s sponsor, said: “The final report will help set out in some detail the hopes and aspirations of York residents for how we achieve a fairer society.”
