UP to 600 classic cars, lorries and military vehicles from across the country turned up to a rally in York.

The event, one of the last such major rallies of the year, was organised by the York Historic Vehicle Group, said chairman Rodney Clegg.

He said the vehicles ranged from pre-war to the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, and came to the rally, held at Bustardthorpe near York Racecourse, from as far away as Lancashire and Nottinghamshire.

He was delighted that the group’s 35th annual rally, on Sunday, had enjoyed such fine weather. “It all went very well,” he said.

Well, I missed this event, I wish it had been advertised, I have waited for an event like this, close to York, and then it comes, and goes, and no info. When do the Routemasters come to Elvington Air Museum?, they have been in the past, but it's a hit and miss system of finding out when. An events page which includes trains and boats and planes would be very handy. I know when the cup cakes are going free, and the nude cyclists are displaying but nothing about transport.

Well... it would have been nice to know about this BEFORE it actually happened.
