Harrogate Borough Council looks at making cuts

A NORTH Yorkshire Council is asking taxpayers which services should be protected and where cuts can be made.

Harrogate Borough Council’s grant from Westminster has fallen by £2.7 million in the last two years and the authority is now bracing itself for another £970,000 drop in 2013/14.

It is now asking residents, businesses and voluntary groups for their thoughts on how it can balance the books next year through two financial consultations, which are also aimed at addressing changes to council tax benefit which will see the council receive £112,000 less in funding for this area from the Government.
