THE PARENTS of three-year-old Lydia Bishop have placed heartfelt floral tributes at the York nursery where she died.

Police say Lydia became entangled in play equipment on Monday in the outdoor play area at York College Day Nursery.

It was Lydia’s first day at the nursery.

A floral tribute from her parents, Rebecca Dick and Brad Bishop, has been laid at the scene alongside dozens of others.

It read: “To our darling daughter, Lydia. You were taken so suddenly from us. Words cannot describe how much we love and miss you already.

“Life can be so cruel but you are in a better place now and we will be reunited again one day.

“Sleep tight princess, all our hugs, love and kisses always and forever. Mummy and daddy.”

More than 10,000 people have also now joined an online book of condolences set up in memory of the little girl.

The Facebook page, RIP Lydia Bishop, contains hundreds of messages of support, including those from other parents who have also lost a child.
