A GROUP Scout leader who has notched up 50 years of service with the sea scouts has been honoured.

Peter Swann, 70, is originally from Bradford but moved to York in 1953, where he joined the the 1st Clifton Sea Scouts.

Now retired, he has continued to be involved with the Sea Scouts ever since.

He said: “I enjoyed it when I was a lad and I wanted to give something back.”

Yvonne Hole, of 1st Clifton Sea Scouts, said: “Without him and all his hard work, the group would not be where it is today.”

Mr Swann’s work includes making sure the group has sufficient funds to continue, and organising activities for the Scouts which include rowing, kayaking and even powerboating.
