TODAY saw the launch of a new challenge to help York’s dementia sufferers in a bid by city leaders to mark World Alzheimer’s Day.

As The Press reported yesterday, GeniUS! – York’s first community open innovation forum – is calling on businesses, individuals, entrepreneurs and community organisations in the city to come up with ideas on ways that people with dementia can have more control over their lives and feel more socially included.

A selection of the most promising solutions will then be invited to make a short presentational pitch to a panel of judges during York Business Week at the Create Your Future event on November 12 at the Hospitium in Museum Gardens.

The result will be announced on the day and a budget of up to £10,000 will be made available to invest in a pilot in the city next year.

To find out more about the specifics of the challenge, submit a proposal or join in the conversation go to geniusyork.com or follow @GeniUSYork . The deadline for entries is November 2.

I think the Press have been insensitive here by accident or a deliberate act!
This story of dementia with the story above of the york maze wanting Zombies is in poor taste in the order of the listing.
Yours disgusted
PS. I think James Alexander should resign over this!

Gary - if you had experience of a loved one suffering from dementia you would never have thought like you did yesterday or had the insensitivity to write like you did.

It's not only people with dementia that suffer , the families they leave "behind" while still here, suffer enormously too.
