Pensioner, 86, rescued from bungalow roof in York

AN 86-year-old man has had to be rescued from his bungalow's roof in York by firefighters.

The elderly man was doing some routine maintenance at his home off Malton Road shortly before lunch today when he realised he could not get down again.

His wife called out the emergency services and firefighters from York used a short extension ladder to rescue him and bring him safely back down to the ground. He was unharmed..
