9:23am Friday 14th September 2012 in News
A LORRY driver is still critically ill in hospital after a North Yorkshire crash which killed another driver.
The tragedy happened at about 2am on Wednesday on the stretch of the A1 south of Catterick when a heavy goods vehicle carrying bottled gas was involved in a collision with a combine harvester, parked in a lay by, and was then struck by another lorry towing a trailer.
The driver of the truck carrying bottled gas was pronounced dead at the scene, while a 58-year-old man from North Lincolnshire, who was driving the other lorry, is in a critical, but stable, condition at Darlington Memorial Hospital.
North Yorkshire Police have said the dead man is not expected to be named for several days.
Anybody with information about the crash should phone the force on 101, select option two and ask for Martin Usher.
