IT MAY not be every 11-year-old boy’s idea of a hobby but a young lad from York is taking the ferret world by storm after an appearance at one of the biggest country shows in England.

Cailean Newbould, of Huntington , earned a place at the Chatsworth Country Fair, in Derbyshire, after his ferret, Teddy, was spotted by judges at the Pickering Game Fair earlier this summer.

Despite a strong showing from Teddy at Chatsworth, he was beaten into a respectable second place, though Cailean said it has just made him more determined.

He said: “Now I’m more determined to get first next time.

“I definitely want to get back to Chatsworth next year - nothing can compare to it.”
