New landlady and landlord at The Punch Bowl pub
THIS young couple are behind a revamp at a York pub.
York Knight’s rugby player Dave Sutton, 22, and his partner Sarah Mills, 19, have overseen the renovation at The Punch Bowl in Lowther Street.
The new landlady and landlord, who have previous experience managing the Cross Keys in Tadcaster Road, have made many changes since taking over, including reverting back to the pub’s former name after a spell when it was known as The Independent.
They have introduced a Friday night quiz, regular open mic nights and have refurbished the games room.
Sarah said: “We will be setting up darts and pool leagues for locals and newcomers. We want to put on lots of things for different people to enjoy.”
The couple are keen to get the pub’s name into the local community, sponsoring sports teams at York St John University where Sarah is a a PE and sports coaching student.
Sarah said: “It’s a really exciting venture and we have lots to look forward to in the future.”
