Woman stops suspected drink driver after crash
2:28pm Tuesday 11th September 2012 in News
A WOMAN helped stop a suspected drink driver following a two car crash in Selby this morning.
At about 8.50am, two vehicles collided in Main Street, Hambleton. One of the vehicles involved, a red Vauxhall combo van, failed to stop at the scene.
The driver, a 36-year-old man from Darlington, pulled into the car park of the Red Lion pub further down the road, and the female driver of the other vehicle, a blue Ford Focus, approached him and, suspecting he had been drinking, took his car keys and phoned the police.
When officers arrived, the man was breathalysed, and arrested following a positive breath alcohol reading.
The man remains in police custody for questioning. Nobody was injured in the crash.
