A 19-YEAR-OLD has admitted assaulting a York schoolboy in an attack which left him fighting for his life.
Aaron Richardson was 15-years-old when he suffered head injuries in the attack near to the entrance of the travelling fair on Knavesmire on September 17 last year. He spent months in a coma as he fought for survival.
Damien Dickinson, 19, of Lindsey Avenue, Acomb , and a 16-year-old boy, who can not be named for legal reasons, were later arrested and charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm.
At a plea and case management hearing at York Crown Court yesterday, Dickinson pleaded guilty to the charge. He is due to be sentenced at a hearing later this year. A date as yet to be fixed.
The 16-year-old, who spoke only to confirm his personal details, denied the charge and is due to stand trial at York Crown Court later this year. A date is yet to be fixed.
